We kept finding incredible makers, like a third-generation coffee roaster in Coorg, a ceramicist working with techniques passed down for decades, or a leather artisan in Shantiniketan. Yet their products were buried under mass-produced alternatives.
Their work deserves more than a crowded marketplace and a price war. We realized these makers didn't need to change their products; they just needed a better way to reach people who appreciate them.
Kumo exists to surface the work that deserves to be found.
Every product starts
with a question.
Is this product genuinely better than what's already available? We taste, we test, we use it in our own daily lives. We compare it against everything else in its category.
If a product doesn't stand out on its own merit in quality, taste, or how it feels to use, it doesn't move forward. No matter how good the packaging or the pitch.
Only products we'd personally recommend earn the Kumo name.

We look across producers and categories for products that genuinely stand out in quality, craft, and how they perform in everyday use.
Test
We order samples and live with them for weeks. We use the products daily, exactly the way a customer would. No shortcuts.
Select
If a product consistently delivers in taste, quality, and durability, it earns its place in the Kumo collection. Most don't make it.
Monitor
Quality isn't a one-time check. We re-evaluate every product regularly. If the standard drops, the product is removed.
